The East Texas Men In Harmony are closing out another record breaking year. The 2011 highlights include our 5th anniversary, increased membership, and winning the Southeast Division Title which covers the area east of Interstate 35 and Louisiana. Then in the fall we placed 5th in the five state Southwestern District – and we are very proud of that finish. One of our quartets made the top 10 and another just barely missed getting there. This District is known as “The District of Champions” for a reason; we have produced more International quartet and chorus champions than any other.
Last year we won the Division competition in San Marcos and are working on two new contest songs for the 2012 contest in Shreveport on March 24. We surprised a couple of other choruses with our performances at the Division and District contest and we know they are out to prove it was a fluke. Well, it wasn't - we put in a lot of effort for that and we're working to do it again. Hard work is a lot of fun when you can taste the results
But competing is not our real purpose in life. We love to entertain and the chorus made 12 public appearances in addition to our 3rd annual show with our largest audience to date. The chapter quartets made over 30 appearances in the east Texas area.
Now for 2012! In February we will again host our Singing Valentunes program. On this website you will be able to sign up for a quartet to appear at a place of your choosing, sing two love songs, and present a rose and a valentine to the love of your life. Rates are very reasonable so get registered early. We will deliver over 125 on February 13 and 14.
We will also begin learning new songs for our show on April 28. This is an excellent time to consider joining with us as you will be on the same level with us learning the new music. We are looking for men who like to sing and would like to improve their ability. You won’t find many soloists in our chorus, just average voices with a desire to blend with other men of good character. And reading music is not a requirement. So drop in some Thursday evening at 7 pm. We’re at Green Acres Baptist Church behind the large circular stained glass window facing Troup Hwy. We’d love to have you join in with us to “Keep the Whole World Singing”.
